Abstract
The article analyzes the relationship between the specificity of the Russian small business and the characteristics of the external environment. The author considers the main causes of the current economic crisis and substantiates the possibility and necessity of its overcoming through the accelerated development of small business. The most important condition of realization of potential of Russian small businesses is improving as the efficiency of state regulation of its development and state regulation of the economy as a whole.
