Abstract
In this article the regional policy of the Rostov region from the point of view of strategic planning is considered. The mechanism of strategic planning on a national level is described, instruments of realization of regional policy of the Rostov region by means of program and target approach, development of competitiveness of the territory are considered. It is made conclusions about need of improvement of tools of regional policy.
