Abstract

The strategy of national state policy of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2025 involves the formation of a political (civil) nation, while maintaining the diversity of the nation's ethnic and religious belonging of the population. However, the construction of national identity in Muslim regions takes place in the conditions of radical struggle in which ethnic and religious identities compete with each other as discursive constructs for group identity of the community and its constituent individuals. And this seriously removes the prospects for successful implementation of the nation-building project in the country.
