The role of Christianity and, above all, Protestantism in the formation of the basic values of liberalism is considered. The position is argued that many liberal values are common to all countries of Christian culture and Russia is no exception, but due to the peculiarities of historical development, our country has not formed an independent civil society as a necessary condition for ensuring the rights and freedoms of man and citizen.
