The article provides an overview of the main conceptual and methodological problems of determining an economic security of the region arising from the intensification of geo-economic processes, the complexity and deepening of the territorial division of labor and the overall increase in the risk of external and internal environment of regional entities. The authors propose the concept of economic security to be a set of adaptive properties of a regional economy, determining its ability to maintain the stability of the oscillatory mechanism within the regional reproductive cycle and progressive development in the conditions of dynamic reality.
