The article examines the socio-cultural foundations of patriotism, due to the differences between Western and Russian cultural and political traditions. The correlation between patriotism and state-civil identity is analyzed, the presence of which is able to integrate various ethno-cultural groups within the country. The authors note that the basis for the formation of Russian patriotism and state-civic identity should be those aspects of the activities of the Russian state, which are objectively the subject of national pride.
