This article explores the processes of confrontation of States for global dominance in the world. The processes of competition are not necessarily peaceful, acquiring all new and new forms of military action. The authors analyze the new forms of wars: preemptive, diffuse, hybrid, secret, the processes of privatization and commercialization of military violence. The study of changes in methods of warfare in the modern world is a necessary component of national security of the Russian state.
