The article presents the results of the genesis’ research of definition “sustainable development” interpretations and evaluation of their functionality for management theory in the conditions of economic turbulence. The author makes the conclusion concerning objective necessity of revision and actualization of methodological basis and instrumental and technological system management of sustainable development in modern conditions of managing. The term “adaptive stability”, which is considered as an essential and prior character of a managed object in order to achieve sustainable development in conditions of economic turbulence is offered in the article.
