The article examines the processes of civil society formation in modern Russia. On the basis of statistical data and results of sociological surveys on the importance of this structural element of civil society, public entity, identified the necessary strategy for the further democratization of Russian society. The Russians know what a civil society, but at the individual level. The activity of public organizations as civil society organizations require greater information transparency, further research.
